The Story: Black Swan Superyacht
General assembly organised a one day hackathon competition and wanted its UX design students and its third week web developer students to colloborate. The purpose of this colloboration was to give us designers a feel of communicating our ideas to the developers and for the developers to translate those ideas into a web page. We were briefed about the project two days before but we had no idea what the details of the competition were or who our team members were until the day of the competition. The competition was judged by a panel of industry professionals and the judging criteria were based on the design responsiveness, functionality, its visual elegance as well as the ease of information. Our team members were made up of three UX designers and two developers. Prior to our meeting with the developers, my team members and I went through a list of concept products to work on and I decided that we should work on the Black Swan Superyacht. We just believed that it was a really cool product to work on. We had six hours to work on this project: The result; We were Runners-Up.

Our primary focus was to work collaboratively and to communicate effectively. My team and I explored our strengths and limitations. We discussed about it and we set these as our foundation. Our focus was on executing the idea. We set timelines throughout the projects and we checked in regularly throughout the process. I conceptualised the idea of having the images cropped in dramatic angles to replicate the style lines of the yacht. I believed that it was an important stylistic choice.
The Process
We worked Agile and timeboxed every step of the way. We started with 5 minutes of sketching...
